Kids NDIS Decluttering Sessions

Reclaiming Spaces, Empowering Lives

Our kids’ NDIS decluttering sessions are an essential part of empowering children to develop skills in independence. Designed to support children with disabilities and their carers under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), our sessions are more than just tidying up. We work to understand your child, and your household, to provide strategies as well as hands-on decluttering and organising support. We work with you to create a space that is free from the overwhelm of clutter, and help develop habits and systems that are maintainable.

We’re a team of experienced professional organisers, supporting clients dealing with a range of psychosocial and physical disabilities, working within the NDIS guidelines. We’ve worked with kids and adults facing challenges like autism, ADHD, acquired brain injuries, post-traumatic stress disorder, visual impairment, chronic diseases, multiple sclerosis, OCD, anxiety disorder, and depression, just to name a few.

We understand the importance of home organisation and a clutter-free environment for self-regulation, sleep, routine building, and general well-being. That’s why our practical, tailored decluttering sessions are specifically designed to accommodate the needs and preferences of NDIS participants and NDIS plan goals.

Why Choose Us?

TAILORED SESSIONS

At The Art of Decluttering, we recognise and celebrate the uniqueness of each child and understand that everyone has their own distinct needs and preferences. Our approach to decluttering sessions is carefully tailored to accommodate these individual requirements, ensuring that every child receives personalised attention and support.

EXPERT GUIDANCE

Our team of qualified and compassionate decluttering experts have extensive experience working with individuals supported through the NDIS. We aim to create a comfortable and engaging environment where each child can thrive and make meaningful progress in their decluttering journey.

ENGAGING METHODS

We bring fun, humour, choice, and creativity to each session. Our gentle encouragement and guidance throughout the declutter and organise process help children develop essential organisational skills while building their confidence and independence.

RESPECT AND PRIVACY

We understand that decluttering can be a personal and emotional process, especially when it involves children and their personal belongings. Our team approaches each session with empathy and understanding, ensuring that your child feels comfortable and respected throughout the entire process.

How the Decluttering Process Works

Whether you’re looking to organise your child’s bedroom or create more functional shared spaces, understanding the decluttering process can be a game-changer.

Building Independence

1. Goals

Whether it's achieving a more functional play area, organising school supplies, decluttering a bedroom, or working on shared spaces, we tailor our approach to meet your child's specific needs. We work with you to develop a personalised plan to ensure that the decluttering and organising support we provide aligns with your child's goals and needs.

2. Declutter

Our approach is not just about decluttering items that are no longer wanted or needed, it's about supporting your child to make decisions about their belongings and create a space that reflects their personality and needs. Through this process, we equip both you and your child with the tools and strategies for independence and lasting change.

3. Organise

We love creating storage and organisational solutions that are designed with our family and child in mind. We understand that organisation is not a one-size-fits-all approach, especially when it comes to children with disabilities. Our team considers your child's sensory preferences, mobility limitations, and individual routines to develop customised organisation solutions.

4. Support

We provide ongoing NDIS decluttering support for children as needed to refine and implement systems, processes, and routines that help you and your child maintain the room or spaces we've decluttered and organised.

We understand that maintaining an organised space is an ongoing journey, and we're here to provide support every step of the way.

We recommend going through your kids’ toys at least twice a year – once at Christmas and again near their birthdays.

The Value of Decluttering Sessions for Your Child

Are you curious about how decluttering sessions can benefit kids? Let’s take a closer look at
how these sessions can make a real difference in children’s lives.

Building Independence

Building Independence

Living in a messy and cluttered home makes it significantly harder for children to develop independent skills like getting dressed, brushing teeth, showering, making breakfast, unstacking the dishwasher, making their bed etc. Creating functional spaces and safe environments is key to successful family relationships

Family Relationships

Improved Family Relationships

Getting ready for the day can be stressful for both parents and children. Having morning routines and organised spaces will help children find what they need and build independence while reducing conflict.

Improved Accessibility

A clutter-free environment frees children to easily find and access their belongings, making daily activities, family routines and therapies more streamlined and efficient.

Enhanced Independence and Confidence

Enhanced Independence and Confidence

As children see the positive results of their efforts, their confidence grows, and they develop a sense of ownership and pride in their spaces. This newfound independence and confidence extend beyond their living spaces and can positively impact other areas of their lives, such as taking on responsibilities with family chores, pet care and self-care activities.

Increased Calm

Increased Calm

A clutter-free environment promotes a sense of calm, as well as reduces visual and sensory overload, allowing children to focus and concentrate better on their tasks and activities. By creating an organised and relaxing space, we create a foundation for a more balanced and peaceful daily routine, which can contribute to improved overall well-being and family life.
